Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 16, 2026
This page explains what information The Agnostic Blog collects, where it goes, and what choices you have. It's written in plain language and reflects how the site actually works.
What we collect
- Sign-in. You sign in with Internet Identity. We receive a principal — a pseudonymous identifier. Internet Identity does not give us your name or email address.
- Your profile. Anything you choose to enter: a display name, an optional email address, and optional "worldview" labels. We collect your email only so we can notify you about activity on your comments — for example, when someone replies to you. We never use it for marketing, never sell or share it, and it is never shown on your public profile.
- Your content. Posts, comments, replies, and likes. These are public — anyone can read them, including people who aren't signed in.
- Post view counts. A simple tally of how many times each post is opened. It is anonymous — we do not record who viewed what.
- Notifications and reports. Generated from activity on the site (for example, a reply to your comment, or a comment you report to the admin).
This site runs on a public blockchain
The Agnostic Blog is hosted on the Internet Computer. Your content and profile are stored in a canister (smart contract) that is replicated across independent nodes. Two consequences worth understanding:
- Content posted here is public and effectively permanent. Copies may persist beyond this site's control.
- Deleting your account removes your profile and frees your display name, but comments you've already posted remain on the site. You can delete your own comments individually.
Please don't post anything here you wouldn't want to be public and permanent.
Third parties
A few outside services are involved. Each has its own privacy policy, and each may see your visit and set its own cookies:
- Internet Identity — used for sign-in.
- X (Twitter) — when a page contains an embedded X post, X's widget loads on that page.
- YouTube — when a page contains an embedded video.
- Caffeine — the platform this site is built and hosted on, which delivers our notification emails, and which collects basic, anonymous usage analytics.
Cookies and tracking
We add no advertising trackers, and no analytics or tracking cookies of our own. We do not profile visitors, and we do not sell or share your information. The platform that hosts this site (Caffeine) runs its own basic, cookieless analytics to count visits, and sets one technical cookie required to serve the site securely — neither is controlled by us or used to identify you.
Your choices
- Your email is optional — leave it blank, or clear it from your profile at any time, if you don't want these notifications.
- You can edit or delete your own comments and replies.
- You can clear your notifications at any time.
- You can ask the admin to delete your account — keeping in mind the blockchain caveat above.
Changes to this policy
